Learn About Cimarron & Benjamin Thomas Memorial for Suicide Awareness

Cimarron Thomas and Ashton Peters were childhood best friends growing up in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. At the start of 6th Grade, the Thomas Family moved to West Virginia, Communication between Ashton and Cimarron were slim due to the distance apart from each other. At the age of 12 years of old a resident of Bruceton Mills, WV, Cimarron Thomas, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018.

On the way home from the funeral, Ashton was thinking of a project to do for Eagle Scout. Ashton wanted to bring awareness to Suicide, his way of coping with the situation. Ashton held his first Suicide Awareness Walk on Cimarron's Birthday in July of 2019. The walk had raised over $3,000 to AFSP and had over 150 take part in the walk. Ashton walk made the local news and even Scouting Wall of Fame for Eagle Scout Projects.

But more troubling news was soon to come, Benjamin Thomas, Cimarron's Father passed away by Suicide about a year after Cimarron's death. Despite Ashton's attempts, he thought he needs to bring more Awareness! Ashton partnered up with 22-Too Many, an organization out of West Virginia that brings awareness to Military Suicide. In July of 2021, Ashton held a 2nd walk in memory of Ben and Cimarron. Ashton's recent walk was another Success. Ashton's says he will continue to hold walk's until his goal is met.
